We work on many Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations. Moreover, goal #13, Climate Action, is the reason that Awesense was founded. Mitigating climate change is the core of who we are as an organization. When Awesense started a decade ago, it was this commitment that brought us to where we are today.
Mitigation Through Movement
Our HQ, from where we help mitigate climate change, is powered by British Columbia’s 95% green energy grid. Also powered by that grid is much of the public transit the majority of our employees use to come to work. Some of us even walk or use electric scooters if we can!
This commitment to sustainable practices lets our employees get some exposure to the beautiful environment they are working so hard to protect. Though many of our employees work from home these days, some do come to the office. When they do, they can be sure that all our supplies and snacks come from climate-friendly sources.
Our Hot Climate Topic
Those of us who do drive are always discussing our dream mode of transport- an electric vehicle! Hop into a Zoom call or grab lunch with any one of us, and we guarantee you that EVs will dominate the conversation! Awesense employees are committed to mitigating climate change, so it’s not surprising that we talk about it daily. From fleet electrification all the way to what color our future EVs will be, there’s no shortage when it comes to our commitment and passion on the topic.
Mitigating Climate Change Outside of Work
And when we’re not working, we take part in a range of activities outdoors all year round. Whether it’s hiking, mountain biking, or skiing, we love nature, and we’re committed to protecting it. In fact, the fresh air in BC is a reminder that what we dedicate our lives to is a cause worth fighting for.
